Tinkering during play benefits children’s motor skills by teaching them to use their hands to shape, manipulate and move. Tinkering also helps to develop problem solving skills whilst building peer relationships which support team work and collaboration. Launched in 2007, Glasgow Science Festival (GSF) has grown to be one of the largest science festivals in the UK. This Primary Resource Pack contains ideas of how to celebrate the Glasgow Science Festival in the classroom.

Glasgow Science Festival 2018 runs from 7th - 17th June. 

Second - Jacobs Engineering Challenge ‘Water We Going To Do?’

Glasgow City Council and Jacobs Engineering are joining forces to support “STEM the Flow”, three STEM challenges that will suggest engineering solutions to help tackle flooding in Glasgow and the surrounding areas. The challenge is to develop and create a new flood defence approach which is to be placed along the banks of the River Clyde at the Glasgow Harbour site.

Second - Jacobs Engineering Challenge ‘Water, Water Everywhere’

Glasgow City Council and Jacobs Engineering are joining forces to support “STEM the Flow”, three STEM challenges that will suggest engineering solutions to help tackle flooding in Glasgow and the surrounding areas. The challenge is to develop and create a new surface water management system that will prevent high rainfall from flooding our city centre streets.

Second - Jacobs Engineering Challenge ‘What a Relief’

Glasgow City Council and Jacobs Engineering are joining forces to support “STEM the Flow”, three STEM challenges that will suggest engineering solutions to help tackle flooding in Glasgow and the surrounding areas. The challenge is to design a new flood prevention system that will be built either in the East End or upstream in the catchments that can prevent flooding from this small watercourse.

All - Maths Week 2017 Challenges

Scotland's first Maths Week was a great success. Use some of the STEM Glasgow challenges for starters, class challenges, extension tasks etc.

Second - Space Week 'You have to Planet!'

A space themed resource that can be used for second level. You are going to help Venus and her dog Spark prepare for a space flight, travel across the solar system and land on Mars. There are a variety of Science and Literacy tasks for second level included. Created in conjunction with Literacy for All.
